Types of Care
The right kind of home for the care your loved one needs.
Every family's situation is different. These are the kinds of homes we help families find anywhere in Michigan.
Assisted living
Larger communities with help for daily living — bathing, dressing, meals, medication and activities — when living at home alone is no longer safe or manageable.
Adult foster care & small residential homes
Smaller, home-like settings with a handful of residents and more personal, hands-on care. Often a good fit when a bigger community feels overwhelming.
Memory care & dementia
Homes trained for dementia and wandering, with secure entries and staff who know how to keep a loved one safe and calm.
Homes that welcome hospice
Residential homes that welcome hospice and end-of-life care, so your loved one can be comfortable and supported in a home setting.
Respite & short stays
Short-term care to give a family caregiver a break, or to bridge a gap while someone recovers.
Help after a hospital or rehab discharge
When a hospital or rehab stay is ending and a safe next step is needed quickly, we start right away to help find the right home.
Paying for care in Michigan
Most families pay for assisted living and adult foster care with a mix of these. Each home is different, so we ask every home which they accept:
- Private pay — Out of pocket each month.
- Long-term care insurance — If your policy covers care.
- VA benefits — For eligible veterans and surviving spouses.
- SSI / Medicaid — Each home is different — we ask which they accept.
Michigan's MI Choice Waiver may help pay for personal care services in some adult foster care homes, but it does not pay for room and board. Families should confirm eligibility with their local Area Agency on Aging.
